Charles O. Snyder Memorial Bridge Dedication Ceremony

Residents are invited to a ceremony to dedicate a bridge in honor of a local soldier who lost his life fighting for our country in Vietnam. Charles Snyder, of Monroe Township, was killed in Vietnam on March 28, 1969, during the Vietnam War. He was 19.
A graduate of Everett Area High School, Charles was known as an all-American boy and joined the Marine Corps in August 1968. He served as a rifleman with 1st Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Division.
The ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, at Steven’s Chapel UMC, 5084 Robinsonville Road, Breezewood. The bridge on West Mattie Road over Shaffer Creek in East Providence Township will be dedicated as the PFC Charles O. Snyder Memorial Bridge.
