Hess Says Trout Stocking Schedules Now Available

Trout stocking schedules are now available at Rep. Hess’ (R-Bedford/Fulton/Huntingdon) district office in preparation for opening day of trout season in April.

“Fishing is one of the many outdoor activities that thousands of Pennsylvanians engage in each year and I am pleased to offer trout stocking schedules to the residents of the 78th Legislative District,” Hess said.

A total of 744 streams and 124 lakes will be stocked as a part of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission’s (PFBC) 2010 adult trout stocking program.  Stocking occurs year-round, though most anglers typically view March as the official start of stocking season.

Hess noted that the PFBC will stock nearly 4 million adult trout in Pennsylvanian rivers and streams that are open to the public for fishing.  More than one million additional trout will be stocked by private contractors across the Commonwealth.

Opening day for trout season is currently scheduled for Saturday, April 17.  There will also be a regional opening day earlier in April for parts of southeastern Pennsylvania.

“I encourage anglers to take advantage of the information contained in the trout stocking schedule,” Hess said.

Copies of the trout stocking schedule can be obtained from Hess’ Bedford County office located at 133 S. Richard Street in Bedford, phone 814-623-9097, or his Fulton County office located at 314 Lincoln Way East, Suite A, in McConnellsburg, phone 717-485-4430.  Schedules can also be viewed on Hess’ Web site at DickHess.com.
