HARRISBURG – Reps. Carl Walker Metzgar (R-Bedford/Somerset) and Jesse Topper (R-Bedford/Franklin/Fulton) announced the Pennsylvania State Council of Farm Organizations (PSCFO), in conjunction with the state Department of Agriculture, will hold a community service seminar at the Bedford Grange Mutual Insurance Company, 477 Pitt St. in Bedford, on Thursday, March 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

During the program, farmers and agriculture producers will learn about compliance requirements under the federal Food Safety Modernization Act. Material will be directed at vegetable and produce growers and will also cover elements of a farm risk management plan, which includes food safety, crop insurance and information on what to ask an insurance agent to make sure insurance needs are met.

The seminar is free to attend and a light lunch will be provided.
