Topper Secures $3.8 Million to Improve Infrastructure in Bedford, Fulton Counties

BEDFORD – More than $3.8 million has been awarded through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) to municipalities in Bedford and Fulton counties to improve local infrastructure, Rep. Jesse Topper (R-Bedford/Fulton) announced.
“The grant dollars will truly have positive impacts on local residents and are sound investments in our communities,” Topper said. “The funding covers a wide range of projects, from upgrades to sewer and water systems to improving roads. I am glad to have advocated for this funding and thank the CFA for seeing the merits of these projects.”
Small Water and Sewer Program grants:
• $260,000 to the Bedford Township Municipal Authority for upgrades to the Pallet Pump Station.
• $225,000 to the East Providence Township Municipal Authority to replace a sludge digester.
• $180,083 to the Saxton Borough Municipal Authority for phase 2 of sewer improvements.
• $58,516 to the Centerville Area Municipal Authority for well source development.
• $273,700 to the Everett Borough Area Municipal Authority for the Summit Street waterline replacement project.
• $79,852 to Saxton Borough to replace the programmable logic controller.
• $131,750 to Beford Borough for the green stormwater infrastructure and upgrades project.
Grant funding is through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program, which offers grants for small water and sewer infrastructure projects and can be used to assist with the construction, improvement, expansion, or rehabilitation or repair of a water supply or sanitary sewer system.
Multimodal Transportation Fund grants:
• $813,427 to the Bedford County Development Association for access road improvements in and adjacent to the Bedford County Business Park III in Bedford Township.
• $465,085 to Bedford Township to demolish and reconstruct Dively Road Bridge.
• $984,998 to the Borough of Bedford for the improvement of pedestrian routes between Central Way, Huntingdon Avenue and Juliana Street.
• $171,000 to Thompson Township for repairs to the West Orchard Road bridge.
• $174,000 to Union Township to pave four roads.
The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the Commonwealth.
