Topper to Host Nonprofit, Anti-Fraud and Theft Prevention Seminar
9/27/2017
BEDFORD – Rep. Jesse Topper (R-Bedford/Franklin/Fulton) and Fulton County District Attorney Travis Kendall will be offering a nonprofit, anti-fraud and theft prevention seminar at the Fulton Theatre’s F&M Trust Annex, located at 100 Lincoln Way East, in McConnellsburg on Thursday, Nov. 2, from 6-8 p.m.

The informational session will be led by Dr. Fred Croop, professor of accounting and business at Misericordia University. The focus of the seminar will be on practical processes, procedures and internal controls for small organizations with few or no employees (predominately volunteers). Examples of financial mismanagement and specific controls where losses could have been prevented or at least minimalized will be discussed.

Kendall will offer his perspective on financial mismanagement cases investigated through his office.

“While most people volunteer with nonprofit organizations to improve their communities and the lives of people who live there, there are some unscrupulous people who, sadly, steal money and resources from these charitable associations,” Topper said. “As such, I am offering this informational meeting to help organizations prevent a financial catastrophe from happening.”

This is a free seminar, but registration is required. To register, contact Topper’s office at 717-485-4430.
