78th District Offices Continue to Serve Residents
HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania House Republican Caucus today issued a reminder to residents that the district offices formerly operated by the late Rep. Dick Hess (R-Bedford/Fulton/Huntingdon) remain open.

There are two offices in the 78th District, in Bedford and McConnellsburg. The office in Bedford is located at 133 Richard St. and is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The McConnellsburg office is located at 314 Lincoln Way East, Suite A, and is also open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 a.m.

Both offices will operate on special hours on the week of Nov. 25, in observance of Thanksgiving. The offices will close at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, and will be closed on Thanksgiving and Friday, Nov. 29. For more information, please visit www.pahouse78.com.

Services available at the district offices include:

• Driver’s license and vehicle registration applications and renewals.
• Assistance with PennDOT paperwork (lost cards, changes, corrections, special registration plates, vanity plates and temporary placards for disabled persons).
• PACE and PACENET applications for seniors.
• Property Tax and Rent Rebate applications.
• Voter registration forms and absentee ballot applications.
• State tax forms.
• Student aid applications.
• Free state maps, state park information and PA Vacation Guides.
• Referrals to agencies to resolve state-related matters.

House Speaker Sam Smith has ordered a special election, which will be held to fill the vacant 78th Legislative District seat. That election is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014.
