Veterans Employment Outreach Event Coming, Says Hess

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Civil Service Commission will host a Veterans Employment Outreach Day on Wednesday, April 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Harrisburg, Rep. Dick Hess (R-Bedford/Fulton/Huntingdon) said today.

“There are many of our veterans who are unaware that there is an employment preference for those who qualify in Pennsylvania,” said Hess. “These wonderful men and women can continue their careers by serving the citizens of the Commonwealth.”

Hess said the event will feature orientation and individual counseling on civil service employment opportunities currently available in Pennsylvania.  There will be employment presentations at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., with job counselors available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Our veterans bring a wealth of skills and desire to the table and they deserve the opportunity to work for our residents,” said Hess.

The event will be held at the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission headquarters, located at 1601 Elmerton Ave. in Harrisburg. For directional purposes, attendees are asked to turn off Elmerton Avenue onto State Farm Road to the parking lot. A current resume is all that is needed.
